Abstract:
This study was carried out on banana where potassium sulphate was used as a foliar spray on banana at three concentrations (0.5% -1.00% and 1.5% ) twice after the opening of the last hand (i.e. 7 th month after planting), and 30 days later. Number of leaves, total Chlorophyll in leaves, Number of days required for maturation, Average weight of bunch, Number of hands and number of fingers/bunch were determined. whereas , finger length, finger diameter, finger weight, pulp weight, peel weight, pulp/peel ratio were determined, also chemical properties of fruits (TSS%, reducing sugars%, non-reducing sugars%, total sugars% and acidity were estimated ). It was found that, all studied characteristics were positively affected by spraying with potassium sulphate at different concentrations compared with control. The best results were obtained by using potassium sulphate treatment at 1.5% which improved all the studied characteristics .So potassium sulfate at 1.5% is recommended for spraying Banana to improve physiological and marketing characteristics. Therefore, potassium sulphate could be economically integrated into banana nutrition strategies.
